Qualifications

Exceptional organizational and project management skills. Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities. Capability to work independently with minimal supervision. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in using INS Zoom. A Bachelor's degree is required. Paralegal Certification from an ABA-approved program is preferred. This is an experienced position requiring 5 to 10 years of paralegal experience with demonstrated competence in the majority of the outlined responsibilities.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Immigration Paralegal to join our team in Detroit. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to efficiently file a variety of applications and petitions with key U. S. immigration agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), USCIS, USCBP, USICE, USDOS, and USDOL.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage a tickler system/database to ensure timely filing of extensions, petitions, and applications.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the Treaty U. S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (formerly known as NAFTA) and the procedures of DHS and related government agencies.
  • Draft and coordinate a range of applications and petitions for submission to USCIS, USCBP, and USDOL, including but not limited to:
    • TN Applications
    • H-1B Petitions
    • H-4 Applications
    • H-3 Petitions
    • J-1 Petitions
    • L-IA/L-IB Petitions
    • Blanket L Petitions
    • Request for Evidence filings
    • E Visa Applications
    • Fiancé Visa Petitions/Applications
    • PERM Applications
    • Immigrant Petitions
    • Adjustment of Status/Consular Process filings
    • Nonimmigrant Visa Applications
    • Waiver Applications
    • Green Card renewal filings
    • Naturalization Applications
  • Prepare letters and affidavits to support applications and petitions.
  • Collect and organize necessary documents to support applications and petitions.
  • Research the availability of foreign documents (e.g., birth, military, prison, and police records) and assist clients in obtaining them. Facilitate certification of foreign documents.
  • Coordinate the translation of foreign documents.
  • Manage the evaluation and equivalency of foreign degrees.
