About the job

About Neuralink:

At Neuralink, we are pioneering the development of groundbreaking devices that facilitate a bi-directional interface with the brain. Our innovations aim to restore movement to individuals with paralysis, enhance vision for the visually impaired, and fundamentally transform human interaction with technology.

Team Overview:

The BCI Applications Team is dedicated to creating Telepathy.app, a revolutionary software that empowers individuals with paralysis to interact with computers effortlessly, using only their thoughts. Our diverse team encompasses expertise in neuroscience, machine learning, software engineering, and user interface design.

Position Summary:

We are in search of a talented UI Design Engineer to design, prototype, and implement cutting-edge computing interfaces specifically for brain-computer interaction (BCI). The ideal candidate will embody the following attributes:

  • A fervent desire to navigate a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment, where design decisions are shaped by factors such as neural architecture and model constraints. For example, subtle adjustments in an animated spring coefficient can significantly impact response times and visual alignment. You will engage closely with experts across various domains to navigate these challenges.
  • An intrinsic understanding of the appropriate fidelity level required at different stages of the design process, whether it be dialogue, rough sketches, or functional prototypes.
  • A strong enthusiasm for exploring uncharted territories of interaction mediums that lack the conventional sensory feedback associated with physical input devices.
  • A deep empathy for users experiencing sensory differences, coupled with a commitment to creating a truly magical experience that transcends conventional usability. You will strive for excellence through optimized animation techniques and high-detail implementations.
  • A confident perspective that is open to critique; you will pursue innovative ideas even when they diverge from team consensus, while being diligent about learning from unsuccessful attempts.
