About Luo Luo is a growing foreign exchange and cross-border payments company active across Africa. The company helps African businesses pay international suppliers more quickly, transparently, and competitively than traditional options allow. Luo has built a strong presence in several markets and is now preparing to enter new countries across the continent. Role Overview: Market Launcher (Abidjan) The Market Launcher leads Luo’s entry into new African markets. This role involves significant ambiguity: expect to arrive in a new country with only a few clients, no local team, and no set playbook. Success depends on navigating this environment and delivering results quickly. The goal is to launch the market, confirm demand, build momentum, and reach the point where a local team can be hired to maintain growth. Main Responsibilities Assess potential African markets for expansion, including regulatory, demand, competition, and payment infrastructure analysis. Develop and execute tailored go-to-market strategies for each country. Establish Luo’s first commercial presence: identify prospects, pitch services, and secure initial deals. Build relationships with local partners, such as banks and regulators. Lay the operational and commercial foundation for a lasting local business. Advance the market to the stage where hiring a local team is justified. Share insights with headquarters to inform product, pricing, and compliance decisions for each market. What Luo Looks For Proven experience launching or scaling businesses in new African markets. Comfort with uncertainty and a self-starting approach. Entrepreneurial mindset, able to build from scratch with limited resources. Background in financial technology, foreign exchange, payments, or financial services is a strong plus. Excellent networking and relationship-building skills across cultures. Willingness to travel frequently throughout Africa.
