The AI Research Scientist role is based in downtown Austin within webAI’s Intelligence Lab. This position focuses on designing original AI models and tackling practical challenges in the field. Success depends on both creative problem-solving and the measurable impact of developed models. Collaboration with engineers and research leaders is central, and the team values frequent experimentation as they build efficient, privacy-conscious systems.
Main Responsibilities
- Algorithm Development: Create and train new model architectures, including Transformers, State-Space Models, and Diffusion models, to address complex business needs.
- Experimental Design: Lead hypothesis testing, establish evaluation benchmarks, and define loss functions that align with human intent.
- Literature Engagement: Keep up with research on ArXiv and participate in conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, and CVPR to apply or extend recent findings.
- Prototyping: Develop proof-of-concept models that demonstrate improvements in accuracy, speed, or reasoning.
- Knowledge Sharing: Document research outcomes and methodologies to support ongoing team learning and collaboration.
