Position Summary
We are on the lookout for a seasoned Behavioral Health Planner / Design Specialist to become a vital part of DLR Group's national Justice + Civic practice. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the planning and design of facilities dedicated to fostering healing, equity, and transformative experiences through behavioral health-centric design solutions. DLR Group embraces a hybrid work model, ensuring flexibility between in-office and remote work. We welcome outstanding candidates from across our network of 30+ studios throughout the United States.

What You Will Do:
- Collaborate within integrated teams of architects, engineers, and specialty consultants.
- Lead the initial planning and design for behavioral health facilities in community, justice, and civic contexts.
- Develop functional layouts that incorporate therapeutic design principles, de-escalation strategies, and security measures.
- Create evidence-based design solutions that support mental health treatment, recovery, and reintegration.
- Design facilities for adult crisis, sobering, substance use, and residential treatment.
- Ensure that designs prioritize client and staff safety while cultivating a therapeutic atmosphere.
- Implement sustainable design practices and adhere to WELL building standards in behavioral health environments.
