Job Overview:
We are on the lookout for a talented Composite Supervisor to lead the fabrication and assembly of composite components for our Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs). This pivotal role within our dynamic engineering and production team entails overseeing all composite manufacturing processes, ensuring material quality, and optimizing production workflows. You will collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams, including design, engineering, and production, to seamlessly integrate composite materials into our vessel systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Composite Manufacturing: Direct and manage a team of composite fabricators and technicians to deliver high-quality composite parts for ASVs.
- Material Selection & Handling: Partner with engineering and materials teams to identify and source the appropriate composite materials (fiberglass, core materials, resins, gelcoats, etc.) for various vessel components.
- Production Planning & Scheduling: Create and uphold production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of composite parts while managing resource limitations.
- Quality Control: Oversee the inspection, testing, and certification of composite components, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD), and DoD requirements.
- Process Optimization: Discover opportunities to enhance composite manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and boost efficiency while upholding the highest quality standards.
- Training & Mentoring: Educate, coach, and develop junior composite technicians and fabricators, ensuring the team possesses the necessary skills, tools, and knowledge to excel.
- Collaboration with Engineering & R&D: Work closely with the engineering team to comprehend design requirements and provide input on the manufacturability of composite components. Collaborate with the R&D team to explore new materials and techniques aimed at enhancing performance and lowering costs.
- Safety & Compliance: Uphold all safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
