We are actively searching for a skilled Fire Alarm Designer to become a vital part of our dynamic team, which consists of over 1,200 dedicated fire protection and security experts. This role will be based in our Austin, Texas office.
Fire Alarm Designer Overview
The Fire Alarm Systems Designer will specialize in the design and CAD layout of fire alarm systems tailored for a variety of facilities across Texas jurisdictions. Each system is meticulously designed and engineered to meet the distinct requirements of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively convey technical concepts to sales representatives, the operations team, and clients.
- Design and layout fire alarm systems using AutoCAD, adhering to all relevant code requirements.
- Develop layouts for Access Control systems in AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with code standards.
- Create comprehensive equipment submittals.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. The following qualifications are highly preferred:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in fire alarm systems layout in accordance with NFPA 72 & 101.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2019 or later versions.
- At least 2 years of experience with Access Control and Fire Alarm systems.
- Experience with Edwards alarm systems is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

- Thorough understanding of applicable codes.
- Ability to engage proactively with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) regarding local code requirements.

- Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Willingness to take responsibility for design accuracy.
- Proficient in identifying and resolving discrepancies.
