Role Overview mlabs is seeking a Security Engineer for a hybrid role based in Austin, Texas. This is a full-time position with a compensation range of $150K - $175K. The company, backed by $40M in funding from investors including Electric Capital and Paradigm, is building next-generation institutional finance solutions on blockchain technology. Security at mlabs is foundational. The security program supports client due diligence, auditor reviews, and enterprise contract negotiations. The Security Engineer will work directly under the CISO, focusing on hands-on technical execution of the company’s security strategy. What You Will Do Security Infrastructure & Implementation Design, deploy, and maintain security controls for identity, endpoint, cloud, and application layers. This includes SSO/MFA enforcement, MDM, EDR, CSPM, secrets management, and DLP. Integrate security tools and configure controls to generate evidence suitable for auditors. Carry out the technical security roadmap as directed by the CISO, balancing infrastructure projects with daily operational tasks. Monitoring, Detection & Incident Response Develop and maintain detection coverage for cloud and endpoint systems, validating alert mechanisms with documented test scenarios. Monitor security logs, investigate suspicious activity, and communicate structured updates to leadership. Vulnerability & Patch Management Oversee the vulnerability management lifecycle, including scanning, triage, remediation tracking, and patch verification. Maintain inventories of non-human identities (such as service accounts and API keys), ensuring proper rotation and tracking of expirations. Automation & Continuous Improvement Automate security controls and evidence collection to reduce manual work and improve scalability. Identify gaps in security posture and recommend improvements to the CISO. GRC & Operational Support Align technical security controls with operational and compliance requirements to support comprehensive governance.
