The Sales Development Representative (SDR) team plays a central role, generating qualified leads for field reps in the UK, France, Germany, and Italy. As Director of Sales Development, Europe, the task is to build and scale the SDR function from the ground up. This role shapes the strategic direction, develops operational playbooks, and grows a team that will drive SumUp’s business development at scale. Reporting goes directly to senior European Sales leadership, with close collaboration alongside the Outbound Growth Lead and RevOps. What You Will Do Build and lead the SDR organization, scaling to more than 80 team members based in Barcelona and Milan. Oversee daily SDR performance, tracking metrics like qualified appointments and closed deals, and keep senior stakeholders informed with regular updates. Work with RevOps, the Outbound Growth Lead, and Sales Heads in each country to remove hiring barriers, improve data and lead quality, and introduce AI-driven tools to increase productivity. Develop SDR talent for future sales roles, building a pipeline of outbound representatives and account executives from within the team. What We Look For Experience leading SDR or outbound sales teams at scale, with direct management of large groups across multiple markets. Proven ability to build sales or SDR functions from scratch, including setting up processes, playbooks, and performance frameworks. Strong analytical and strategic skills, with the ability to turn data into action and communicate insights clearly. Comfort with evolving environments where structures are still forming and priorities may shift. Excellent communication skills, able to share ideas clearly and confidently at all levels of the organization.
