Your Role:
As a Senior Interconnection Engineer at Nexamp, you will be instrumental in transforming the energy landscape through your expertise. With a focus on renewable energy, you will lead initiatives that drive innovation and change in the sector. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong technical foundation and proven experience in photovoltaic (PV) system design and interconnection. You will provide specialized support to project managers, ensuring that our projects are not only technically sound but also optimized for cost and efficiency.
You will report to the Manager of Grid Integration Engineering (GRIT) and collaborate closely with internal teams, including Engineering, Business Development, Policy, and Asset Management, to develop and commission commercial and industrial renewable designs. This role is hybrid and can be based out of our Chicago, New York City, Boston, or Washington, DC offices, with some travel required.
Your Responsibilities:
- Oversee a portfolio of utility interconnection applications from initial submission through project completion.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on technical standards (e.g., IEEE 1547, NFPA 70, UL 1741) and utility requirements for Distributed Generation projects within your assigned region.
- Conduct detailed reviews, analyses, quality assurance/quality control, and interpretation of technical documentation, utility interconnection applications, pre-screen reports, System Impact Studies, and Interconnection Service Agreements.
- Offer expert technical advice during study reviews and provide recommendations to internal teams based on study findings.
- Prepare interconnection cost estimates and analyze hosting capacity maps to assist development in identifying cost-effective interconnection locations.
- Collaborate with Project Managers on value engineering and cost optimization strategies for projects.
