THE JOB As a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you will be at the forefront of veterinary emergency care from day one. You will support your team, offer comfort to pet parents, and immerse yourself in the dynamic environment of our clinics. Your role will encompass triaging patients, participating in treatments, and contributing to the overall care experience. WHAT YOU WILL DO Provide a compassionate welcome to incoming patients and assist in triaging to ensure they receive timely care. Support nursing care, diagnostics, and treatment procedures, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placements, and oxygen support. Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to monitor anesthesia and sedation cases. Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration. Participate in all aspects of patient care, from outpatient to inpatient, and from exam room to treatment area. Engage in patient rounds to maintain continuity of care. Receive training to become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer, including CPR techniques. Advance into more complex responsibilities as you grow in your role.
