In this role, you will act as the technical authority, ensuring that all mission components—from payload and spacecraft to launch, ground operations, and beyond—are cohesively aligned to provide transformative Earth-observation capabilities.Your responsibilities will encompass leading mission systems engineering, orchestrating subsystem integration, maintaining the technical baseline, driving critical design and verification decisions, and guiding the engineering team throughout the entire lifecycle. Founded in 2020, we are poised to conduct our first reactor test at the Idaho National Laboratory next year, with initial customer deliveries scheduled to commence in 2028.About the RoleWe are looking for a dedicated Senior Power Systems Engineer to spearhead the design, modeling, and validation of electrical power systems integral to our nuclear microreactor platform. In this pivotal role, you will define the mechanisms of power generation, conditioning, control, and distribution across various environments including grid-connected, islanded, and rapidly deployable settings.You will manage power system studies, from initial architectural considerations to thorough modeling, testing, and validation. Collaborating closely with teams from electrical design, controls, turbomachinery, nuclear, thermal, and software, your efforts will ensure safe, stable, and reliable power delivery under diverse operational and contingency scenarios. This role is crucial to the commercialization of the world's first mass-produced portable nuclear reactors.Responsibilities and Duties:Lead power system modeling and analysis for microreactor power generation systems in both grid-connected and islanded modes.Create and maintain steady-state, dynamic, and electromagnetic transient (EMT) models representing generation assets, loads, protective schemes, and supervisory controls.Conduct power flow, fault analysis, protection coordination, and system stability studies to validate system performance across normal and contingency situations.Assess system behavior during disturbances such as load changes, faults, breaker operations, and generation loss events.Assist in design trade studies to enhance power system architecture, control strategies, and equipment selection.Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure integrated solutions that meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
