About the job
Join Helion’s Mission for Clean Energy
Helion Energy, based in Everett, WA, is pioneering the development of the world’s first fusion power plant, aimed at providing unlimited clean electricity for a sustainable future. Our vision is to create a world where energy is clean, reliable, and affordable for all.
Since our inception in 2013, we have successfully raised over $1 billion from esteemed investors including Sam Altman, Mithril, Capricorn Investment Group, SoftBank, and Lightspeed, driving our innovative journey forward. Our latest prototype, Trenta, has achieved remarkable milestones with 10,000 high-power pulses and plasma temperatures reaching 100 million degrees Celsius. Currently, we are advancing with Polaris, our next prototype, which will bring us closer to realizing the first fusion power plant.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Helion during a transformative period. You will confront significant challenges alongside a team that values urgency, rigor, accountability, and a commitment to transparency—attributes essential for achieving groundbreaking advancements in energy solutions. Together, we can shape the future of energy, because the world cannot afford to wait.
Your Role as a Test Engineer:
As a Senior Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining electrical test systems that validate PCBAs, power electronics, and high-voltage assemblies integral to our fusion generators. You will collaborate closely with design engineers and technicians to ensure that our test infrastructure is robust, repeatable, and safe for hands-on execution.
Your contributions will directly facilitate faster hardware iterations, enhance first-pass yield, and ensure the dependable delivery of mission-critical electrical systems that underpin Helion’s fusion generators and pulsed-power architecture. This position is hands-on, lab-based, and will report directly to the Production Manager.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Design and implement electrical test systems for PCBA and high-voltage assemblies, encompassing test rack architecture, fixture design, instrumentation selection, and automation support.
- Develop test fixture PCBAs for use in test racks, managing schematic capture, layout, review, and bring-up for functional validation of production hardware.
- Construct, wire, debug, and maintain complete test racks and fixtures, ensuring power distribution, safety interlocks, signal routing, and data acquisition integration are effective.
- Enhance data acquisition and control tools to streamline testing processes.
