Johnson Engineering, an Apex Company, seeks a Transportation and Traffic Engineer to support projects across Florida. This position is open to candidates based in Fort Myers or working remotely. The role centers on transportation and traffic engineering assignments involving technical analysis, design, and coordination with agencies and clients.
What you will do
- Prepare and manage FDOT Driveway Connection Permit applications, including technical documentation and communication with FDOT reviewers.
- Develop Traffic Impact Statements (TIS) for various cities and counties in Florida.
- Conduct operational analyses and traffic modeling using Synchro/SimTraffic, focusing on scenario development and Level of Service (LOS) evaluations.
- Design traffic signals, including detailed plans, timing sheets, and coordination plans that comply with FDOT and local standards.
- Create technical reports, design documents, and supporting calculations.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and permitting agencies to ensure effective project delivery.
- Work as part of multidisciplinary teams on transportation engineering projects.
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, or eligibility to obtain one within six months of hire.
- Experience with transportation and traffic engineering projects in Florida, including work with FDOT and local municipalities.
Location
This role may be based in Fort Myers, FL or performed remotely.
