Position Overview:
We are looking for a meticulous and seasoned Marine Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in the construction, integration, and testing of cutting-edge autonomous surface vessels. Your primary focus will be to uphold exceptional quality standards throughout shipyard operations, spanning hull fabrication, welding, outfitting, electrical integration, and sea trials. Collaborating closely with engineering, production, and regulatory agencies, you will oversee, assess, and improve product and process quality to ensure compliance with customer, naval, and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance: Design, implement, and uphold quality assurance protocols for shipyard operations including fabrication, assembly, outfitting, and testing. Conduct inspections to verify adherence to drawings, specifications, Regulatory/Military standards, and customer expectations.
Process Improvement: Recognize and propose enhancements to shipyard operations to boost quality, efficiency, and reliability. Collaborate with production teams to integrate best practices and lessons learned into current projects.
Inspection and Testing: Oversee inspections and critical process evaluations (e.g., welding, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and systems integration). Assist in harbor and sea trial activities by confirming system readiness and ensuring quality standards are met prior to delivery.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, test results, and quality evaluations. Generate and present reports on quality performance, nonconformities, and corrective/preventive measures.
Compliance and Standards: Guarantee adherence to regulatory and military standards, customer specifications, ISO 9001, and internal company policies. Stay abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and shipyard quality practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, production, and program teams to resolve quality issues, offer technical support, and contribute to design and process improvements that enhance vessel safety and reliability.
Training and Mentorship: Facilitate training for staff and promote a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement.
