Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. U. S. Government contracts mandate that applicants be U. S. citizens or permanent residents. DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Expertise in aligning and securing micro-optical components. Practical experience with vacuum system assembly and testing. Competency in glovebox assembly operations. Awareness of cleanliness standards for vacuum and optical assemblies. Proficient in mechanical prototyping, including basic machining and finishing. Experience with advanced bonding techniques such as soldering, brazing, and adhesive applications. Familiarity with SolidWorks for mechanical design. Knowledge of electronics prototyping, including schematics, PCB fabrication, assembly, soldering, and rework. Experience testing low-noise analog, mixed-signal, and RF electronics. Background in vacuum technology and instrumentation.

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are on the lookout for a skilled R&D Technician with a strong focus on precision assembly and testing. In this hands-on role, you will collaborate closely with physicists and engineers to construct and assess high-performance, portable accelerometers, gyroscopes, gravimeters, atomic clocks, frequency standards, and magnetometers, in addition to component technologies that serve the R&D community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work alongside physicists and engineers to assemble and test intricate quantum sensors and atomic clock hardware.
- Manage procurement and inventory tracking of mechanical, optical, vacuum, and electrical components.
- Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and testing of components and subsystems.
- Assemble high-precision mechanical systems.
- Align lasers within optical systems.
- Procure and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop and execute test plans.
- Perform bake-out and leak testing on vacuum systems.
- Document and report findings from validation tests.
