The Role:
We are seeking a dynamic Staff Autonomy Safety Engineer to spearhead the safety assurance for machine learning-driven autonomy systems. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe operation of perception, prediction, and decision-making systems in real-world contexts, ensuring they can gracefully handle uncertainty and remain resilient in complex, human-centric environments.
This is a high-impact, highly technical position focused on enhancing AI safety for embodied systems. You will collaborate closely with teams in AI, robotics, and security to ensure effective safety measures are in place.
You will report directly to the Director of Robot Safety.
What You Will Do:
Identify and assess AI-specific hazards in end-to-end autonomy systems.
Define and enforce safety constraints for AI-driven robotic behavior in interaction with humans, objects, and surrounding environments.
Collaborate with the Functional Safety team to translate AI risks into system-level requirements and mitigation strategies.
Partner with AI teams to establish runtime guardrails that validate and constrain AI-generated actions.
Evaluate risks associated with datasets and model behaviors, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
