Role Overview The Fire Detection Maintenance Technician at Getlink helps keep the Channel Tunnel’s fire detection, safety, and security systems running safely and efficiently. Based in Folkestone, Kent, this role covers both preventative and corrective maintenance, first-level diagnostics, and basic upkeep of technical assets managed by the Telecommunication Control Systems (TCS) department. Main Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance following technical standards, recording all work in the Maintenance Management System (MMS). Diagnose and resolve first-level faults on fire detection and extinguishing systems to support continuous safe operation. Respond quickly to requests from the Maintenance Control Centre (MCC), prioritizing tasks based on operational and safety needs. Test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment in the workshop to maintain system reliability and availability. Contribute practical insights to technical improvement initiatives for safety and security systems. Follow all safety and security procedures, participate in safety briefings and audits, and report issues to help maintain a safe workplace. Monitor Minimum Operating Requirements (M.O.R.) and act to prevent service interruptions. Work collaboratively with colleagues across UK and French sites, supporting a respectful and inclusive binational team. Complete administrative and technical documentation accurately and on time. Continue developing technical skills in relevant maintenance areas, documenting progress and learning. Support wider TCS maintenance by performing tasks on other technical assets as needed. Take on additional duties related to the role as assigned by a Manager or Supervisor.
