Your Role
As Canva continues to evolve, adaptability is part of our core values. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities that may evolve over time:
Collaborate with designers and product managers to define new features, functionalities, and technical requirements.
Introduce and implement innovative strategies and solutions to future-proof our offerings.
Engage in the code review process, both as an author and a reviewer.
Lead, mentor, and support your team to help them meet their objectives.
Conduct structured performance reviews, regular one-on-ones, participate in the hiring of new engineers, and set goals and milestones for your team.
Promote a positive and constructive work atmosphere by encouraging teamwork, open communication, and ongoing learning and development opportunities.
Ideal Candidate Profile
You have a solid track record of developing high-performance commercial software in Ruby for large-scale global projects. (Our technology stack includes Ruby on Rails, React, MySQL, Redis, and S3).
Your knowledge is grounded in computer science and engineering principles, encompassing concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
You possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and can lead discussions with both technical and non-technical audiences.
You bring several years of experience in people management, guiding and mentoring software engineers. Your passion for mentorship drives you to empower others.
You exhibit a strong sense of ownership and are enthusiastic about fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth.
