ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Efficiently packages and prepares products for shipment, ensuring accurate posting of weights and shipping charges, while maintaining comprehensive records of merchandise shipped. Reviews customer orders, examines inventory, and expertly stocks and distributes merchandise within our distribution center. Conducts thorough comparisons of nomenclature, stock numbers, and other details on packing slips to verify the accuracy of purchase and shipping orders. Performs data entry tasks to maintain accurate inventory, purchasing, shipping, and related records. Utilizes various data sources, such as contracts and invoices, to verify inventory counts against physical stock and addresses any discrepancies with corrective documentation. Maintains both manual and computerized records of material inventory, production reports, and material location statuses. Compiles essential information on the receipt and disbursement of materials, calculating inventory balances, prices, and costs. Ensures materials and equipment are packaged with accurate shipping documentation and are adequately protected for transport. Identifies the most efficient and cost-effective routing and modes of transportation for shipments. Initiates investigations into misdirected shipments, damages, shortages, or overcharges in freight costs. Assists with or performs additional related tasks as assigned.
