JOB SUMMARYThe Nursing Professional Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing clinical and nursing professional development within the organization. Acting as an educator, leader, consultant, facilitator, change agent, and researcher, this position is crucial for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care through the development of nursing staff's clinical competencies and the promotion of evidence-based practices. This role involves assessing, developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating clinical competency assessments, continuing education, and leadership training programs. The specialist is responsible for creating and delivering orientation, in-service education, and continuing education programs, while managing complex projects that require effective collaboration across various teams and strong leadership skills.By leveraging evidence-based practices and research, the Nursing Professional Development Specialist focuses on the skills and knowledge necessary for optimal patient care in their designated areas, including quality improvement, safety, regulatory compliance, and program outcomes evaluation. Working closely with leadership and staff, this role addresses patient care and performance issues, sets standards, and maintains up-to-date knowledge and skills relevant to their assignments. As a role model of professional conduct, the specialist is instrumental in fostering a positive nursing environment that meets the diverse needs of various units.
