SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer for Satellite Integration plays a critical role in planning, developing, and supporting the integration and assembly processes for satellite subsystems and complete spacecraft. This position emphasizes the design of efficient workflows, adherence to aerospace standards, enhancement of production quality, and optimization of processes to fulfill mission objectives. The engineer will work collaboratively with design engineers, technicians, quality assurance teams, and program management to ensure effective integration, assembly, and testing of spacecraft.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and maintain manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, and work instructions for satellite integration.
- Design and validate fixtures, tooling, and handling equipment to facilitate satellite assembly and subsystem integration.
- Collaborate with design engineering to apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles in spacecraft and subsystem designs.
- Support integration activities across satellite structures, avionics, propulsion, and payload, ensuring all interfaces meet engineering specifications.
- Lead and assist in Material Review Board (MRB) processes and resolution of discrepancies to address nonconformances effectively.
- Identify, analyze, and implement process enhancements to boost manufacturing efficiency, decrease costs, and improve quality.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOM), and change notices to guarantee manufacturability.
- Support cleanroom operations, ensuring compliance with ESD, FOD, and contamination control standards.
- Plan and execute assembly flow sequencing, integration schedules, and resource allocation for satellite programs.
- Coordinate integration and test readiness reviews (IRR/TRR) to ensure production milestones are achieved.
- Provide engineering support during environmental testing (Vibration, TVAC, Shock, EMC) and validate satellite hardware readiness.
- Train and mentor technicians on new assembly techniques, tooling, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, NASA, and ECSS standards.
