SGS North America Inc. is actively seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Inspector / Expeditor for a contract role based in Mount Pleasant, PA. This contract position is anticipated to last between 12 to 18 months.
The chosen inspector will be required to enter into an independent contractor/sub-contractor agreement (1099) with SGS North America Inc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning, organization, and coordination of all Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for project equipment, ensuring that tests are conducted according to project specifications with appropriate stakeholder oversight. Candidates should possess an Electrical Engineering background and have extensive experience in coordinating, witnessing, and evaluating FAT, implementing necessary corrective actions to meet defined expectations.
- Schedule and coordinate FATs with suppliers, project teams, and customer representatives.
- Conduct inspections of MV/HV Breakers, Voltage Transformers, Surge Arrestors, and other electrical components.
- Ensure that all testing procedures, documentation, and acceptance criteria are prepared prior to FAT.
- Facilitate communication among suppliers, engineering, quality assurance, and customers during FAT activities.
- Document and track FAT results, ensuring all punch-list items are addressed.
- Distribute certified FAT reports and test certificates to the project team for turnover documentation.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, engineering drawings, and standards such as National Electrical Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
- Monitor and report on testing progress, quality metrics, and potential risks to project timelines.
- Witness and oversee the execution of tests, ensuring thorough coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
- Document results and defects formally, raise NCRs, and facilitate resolutions with the functional team.
- Evaluate testing methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Verify that final documentation has been completed and approved by the customer and responsible engineering/project management.
