Its mission is to integrate academic research with industrial expertise to deliver innovations for Naval Group's applications in shipbuilding. This collaboration aims to address key challenges in the maritime industry while contributing to national goals for competitiveness and energy transition.Following an initial extension in 2020, the partnership will continue beyond 2024 with a strengthened focus on hydrodynamics. The primary goal of this research axis is to develop solutions that enhance ship performance under extreme conditions. In this context, a new position for a research engineer focusing on load assessment on ships is open at Centrale Nantes. The hired researcher will aid in the development of a multi-fidelity modeling tool in close collaboration with Naval Group.Job Description:A ship must withstand local and global loads that occur during navigation in irregular waves. Shipyards generally rely on rules established by classification societies based on experience and calculations performed on numerous vessels. Another approach involves conducting calculations to evaluate the loads on a specific ship. A challenge lies in identifying the relevant input conditions to test. Multiple methods exist, such as the use of design waves or a Monte Carlo approach for irregular waves. Due to computational costs, it is unrealistic to conduct this entire process solely with CFD simulations.
