About the job
At OXMAN, we are revolutionizing the intersection of design, technology, and biology to create innovative products and environments on multiple scales. Our unique approach transcends traditional boundaries, allowing design to inform scientific inquiry and vice versa. In a world where human-centric design has often distanced us from the natural environment, we advocate for a Nature-centric philosophy. This perspective not only seeks to mend the rift caused by design but also harnesses its potential to create harmonious solutions that benefit both humanity and nature. By emphasizing interconnectedness and designing for systems-level impact, we aim to transcend basic maintenance and instead foster the advancement of the natural world.
Key Responsibilities
Conceptualization and Research: Conduct comprehensive research to identify key behaviors and interactions within ecosystems to develop a robust conceptual framework for ecosystem modeling.
Ecosystem Dynamics Modeling: Lead the modeling efforts to simulate core ecosystem dynamics and interactions identified during the conceptualization phase, including aspects such as plant growth and succession.
Quantitative Metrics Development: Create quantitative metrics to evaluate ecosystem health, stability, and the services they provide.
Implementation and Documentation: Implement models within an efficient computational framework, ensuring thorough documentation for usability and reproducibility.
Data Integration: Assist in the collection and integration of environmental, ecological, and spatial data to support model parameters and validate outcomes.
Data Analysis: Perform data analysis to extract crucial insights for the development and validation of ecosystem models.
Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation outlining model assumptions, data sources, code structure, and operational guidelines for model usage and maintenance.
Collaborative Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with the OXMAN team to facilitate research review, implementation, and integration within their workflows.
Participate in regular progress meetings (weekly or biweekly) to discuss ongoing projects and updates.
