Role Overview
As a Search Engineer at Whatnot, you will play a pivotal role in crafting an exceptional search experience that enables users to effortlessly discover the most relevant content on our platform, including streams, products, and community interactions. Our mission revolves around cultivating a dynamic ecosystem where buyers encounter engaging content and sellers flourish in their businesses. Your focus will span various challenges, including taxonomy, search and filter functionalities, retrieval and ranking algorithms, and content comprehension. We pride ourselves on making data-driven decisions and deploying solutions rapidly to enhance user experiences. Our software team operates with significant autonomy, and we are eager to bring on board trustworthy individuals who can make informed trade-offs and exercise sound judgment.

We offer the flexibility to work from home or at one of our global office hubs, valuing in-person collaboration for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of our New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, or Los Angeles hubs.
