The Mechanics Business Unit in Newton, New Jersey, is seeking a Clean Room Assembler to join its production team. This group focuses on assembling and ensuring the quality of optomechanical products in a modern cleanroom environment. Role overview The Clean Room Assembler constructs products and performs final quality checks before they leave the cleanroom. This position is suitable for those interested in hands-on assembly work. While the main location is Newton, NJ, some travel to other Thorlabs sites may occasionally be needed. Your responsibilities will include kitting, assembly, and conducting in-process measurements.Key Responsibilities include:Operate in a production area with processes of low to moderate complexity.Prepare batches by gathering necessary components and preparing materials such as epoxies.Perform basic assembly of products utilizing mechanical fasteners and various adhesives.Learn to conduct visual and mechanical measurements of parts using metrology devices like eye loupes, microscopes, calipers, micrometers, and indicators.Execute visual alignment of components with the help of alignment jigs, visual indicators, and laser test stations.Package products for the next processing step or for final customer delivery.Handle and clean specialty fiber optics, precision optics, and mechanical components.Sort and count parts and materials accurately.Inspect parts and materials for defects.Understand written work instructions and technical drawings to manufacture final products meeting the highest quality standards, aiming for zero scrap or rework.Maintain accurate records in our Manufacturing Database.Engage in Continuous Improvement initiatives.Adhere to company safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.In addition to the essential duties listed, all employees are responsible for:Meeting company standards for quality and quantity of work continuously.Following company policies and procedures regarding workplace behavior during all job functions.The company reserves the right to modify or assign additional duties as necessary.

Collaboration with graphic designers is essential to produce engaging presentations, utilizing basic information from our engineers along with your existing knowledge of related products.• Project Management: Apply your technical expertise and familiarity with our ERP system (D365), content editing tools, and Thorlabs' standards to craft comprehensive presentations supporting New Product Introductions (NPI), website updates, product phase-outs, acquisitions, tradeshows, social media, video projects, and other marketing collateral. Ideal candidates will possess robust Toolmaking and Manual Machinist skills, with proficiency in operating manual mills, lathes, and grinders, in addition to Haas CNC 3-axis milling machines. Responsibilities will include constructing and modifying production component tooling fixtures to facilitate automation in production.Though primarily based in Newton, NJ, the role may occasionally require visits to other Thorlabs locations.Key Responsibilities:Machine new components and repair tooling fixtures to support CNC automation production.Monitor and inspect machined components to ensure accuracy against specified standards outlined in technical drawings.Maintain cleanliness in the work area, including performing preventative maintenance on CNC machinery.All employees are expected to:Consistently meet company standards regarding productivity and quality of work, adhering to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.Follow company directives regarding professional conduct while completing job tasks and assignments.The company reserves the right to assign additional duties as needed.Physical Demands:This position may involve active work, including standing or sitting for extended periods, and repetitive tasks.
