We are currently seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to take on the role of Head of the Mechanical Department in our Pittsburgh office. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical acumen, excellent communication abilities, and outstanding leadership skills. In this role, you will lead the mechanical team, manage workloads, and engage in exciting projects while working independently on multiple concurrent assignments, including design and construction phases, as well as preparing contract documents and specifications for complex building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide training, support, and mentorship to team members.
- Oversee and coordinate the workload of the mechanical team.
- Ensure timely, on-budget project completion with the highest standards of quality.
- Serve as a primary contact, fostering and strengthening relationships with clients.
- Offer technical expertise in various HVAC systems throughout the office.
- Independently execute calculations and develop comprehensive designs for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including equipment selection for projects of all sizes.
- Draft specifications and ensure their coordination with other disciplines.
- Collaborate with code officials and design professionals when building code interpretations or exceptions are necessary, demonstrating extensive knowledge of applicable codes.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the construction process by reviewing shop drawings and addressing inquiries during construction.
- Conduct system analyses and comparisons regarding economic and functional considerations.
- Prepare due diligence and feasibility studies to support client requirements for systems across various complexities.
