This role manages, optimizes, and secures PostgreSQL environments across both on-premises and cloud platforms. The position is central to ensuring database performance, availability, and reliability, supporting both ongoing projects and daily operations. Main responsibilities Administer and maintain PostgreSQL databases in on-premises and cloud environments. Manage the full database lifecycle, including upgrades, patching, and tuning for performance. Design and implement backup, recovery, and high availability (HA/DR) strategies. Monitor system performance (CPU, memory, storage) and plan for future capacity needs. Enforce security at both system and database levels, focusing on access control and authentication. Analyze and optimize queries using advanced performance tools such as Explain Plan and profilers. Support deployment and change management, including schema updates and CI/CD pipelines. Troubleshoot incidents and perform root cause analysis. Work with developers and architects to design effective database schemas, indexes, and views. Improve monitoring, automation, and error-prevention processes. Participate in project activities and join a 24/7 on-call rotation. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. Direct experience managing PostgreSQL in both on-premises and cloud environments. Familiarity with other databases such as MongoDB, SQL Server, or Oracle is a plus.
