Initially, you will be a player-coach, actively sourcing, engaging, and securing top-tier talent while also laying the groundwork for a future recruitment team.Key ResponsibilitiesEstablish Recruiting Function: Develop and execute the recruitment strategy, including tools, processes, branding, and training initiatives to enhance our hiring capacity.Manage Full-Cycle Recruiting: Take charge of sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and closing candidates for both technical (AI/ML/Engineering) and operational positions.Lead by Example: Engage in hands-on recruiting while simultaneously creating a strategic roadmap for future team expansion.Enhance Efficiency and Quality: Reduce time-to-fill, monitor funnel metrics, and implement rigorous standards throughout the recruitment process.Elevate Candidate Experience: Safeguard our employer brand, ensure swift communication, and facilitate a respectful and engaging hiring process.Conduct Effective Intake Sessions: Collaborate with hiring managers to thoroughly understand job requirements and set clear priorities.Source Talent Innovatively: Utilize diverse platforms beyond LinkedIn, such as GitHub and niche forums, to uncover hidden talent.Strategically Close Candidates: Personalize pitches to align with candidate motivations, clearly communicate compensation packages, and outmaneuver competitors.Train and Mentor: Equip the recruitment team with the skills to conduct effective, fair, and legal interviews; establish structured processes and evaluation rubrics.What We’re Looking ForDemonstrable full-cycle recruiting expertise, particularly in technical roles.Experience in Startups—preferably as a founding or first recruiter, valuing breadth of experience in smaller companies over depth in larger organizations.Familiarity with the San Francisco Market—possessing a strong local network and an understanding of prevailing compensation standards.Proven creative sourcing abilities—able to demonstrate effective strategies that have yielded results.Exceptional closing skills—capable of navigating competitive offers and tailoring narratives to resonate with candidates.Comfort in recruiting for AI/ML roles; knowledgeable about where to discover this talent.
