We place a high emphasis on self-direction and initiative among our team members.Position OverviewAs an Applied Physicist on the Lithium Team, you will collaborate with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and technicians to design, implement, and analyze experiments that propel the advancement of the fusion fuel cycle and stable isotope production. Your hands-on expertise in designing and testing reactive material systems (such as lithium, liquid metals, or molten salts) will be crucial in the development of an innovative isotope separation device.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and conduct experiments on lithium plasma systems functioning under high-vacuum and elevated temperature conditions.Develop and utilize diagnostic tools, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to accurately capture and analyze experimental data.Interpret experimental findings to cultivate physical insights, identify key governing phenomena, and enhance system design and processes.Work collaboratively with mechanical and testing engineers to translate experimental data into durable hardware solutions.Contribute to the design and development of vital subsystems, including hollow cathodes, lithium handling, condensation, thermal management, and pumping systems.Qualifications5+ years of experience in designing, prototyping, and testing reactive materials systems.Strong background in experimental physics, particularly in the context of fusion energy and isotopic separation.Proficient in data analysis and interpretation, with a keen ability to derive actionable insights from experimental results.Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential for successful teamwork.Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
