This position is based in our San Francisco office and requires in-office presence 4 days a week. Candidates must be available for regular evening calls with teams and partners in Asia, as well as occasional travel (once to twice per quarter) to these locations.
Who You Are
As a Senior Product Design Engineer, Electrics (Lead), you will be instrumental in spearheading product engineering and design initiatives for our expanding range of home appliances, including precision coffee makers, grinders, and kettles. You will engage in hands-on design work, including CAD ownership, analysis, simulations, calculations, and testing.
Your role will involve driving the design, development, and refinement of hardware products from concept through production, ensuring they meet exceptional standards of functionality, user experience, and design aesthetics.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including industrial design, electrical engineering, software development, operations, vendors, and manufacturing partners, to deliver outstanding products. As a design lead, you will guide external partners, mentor fellow engineers, lead design reviews, and serve as a technical partner to our Technical Project Managers.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Product Design Process:
- Take hands-on ownership of product design and development tasks, including CAD, analysis, characterization, testing, and prototyping, leading efforts from preproduction to mass production.
- Collaborate with industrial design, engineering, and operations teams to ensure products meet quality, cost, and timeline objectives.
- Oversee the comprehensive design and development of consumer hardware products, focusing on connected home appliances like coffee makers, kettles, and grinders.
- Create detailed 3D models, CAD designs, and engineering drawings.
- Conduct sensor and system characterization.
- Perform calculations related to fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
- Make material selections for complex applications.
- Support robust testing and validation of products.
