This full-time, in-office role is based at IEM’s Surrey, British Columbia facility. The Materials Planning Specialist, Inventory Control, helps keep manufacturing operations on track by managing production schedules and inventory levels. This position works closely with teams across production, purchasing, logistics, and customer service to ensure materials and finished goods move smoothly through the process. Key responsibilities Coordinate with the Production Scheduler to support adherence to production schedules, identify inventory constraints, and communicate how material availability impacts timelines. Monitor raw material, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory to maintain the right supply and avoid excess. Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits, investigating and resolving any discrepancies found. Work with procurement to ensure timely purchasing of materials based on production needs and lead times. Analyze inventory and production data to spot trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Maintain accurate records in ERP/MRP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Infor), including BOMs, routings, and inventory transactions. Update stakeholders on production status, delays, and capacity constraints as needed. Coordinate with the warehouse team on inventory storage, labeling, and organization. Support new product launches by preparing materials and ramp-up plans for production. Help develop and enforce inventory control policies and procedures. Prepare and share regular production and inventory reports with management. Take on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization. This role plays a key part in keeping production lines moving by ensuring that all workstations receive the correct parts and materials when needed. By supporting timely delivery and minimizing downtime, the Materials Coordinator helps maintain smooth production operations. Main responsibilities Perform regular kanban checks at assigned production floor locations to identify restocking needs for parts and materials. Pick, transport, and deliver materials from warehouse or storage to workstations, ensuring quantities and timing match production requirements. Monitor inventory at each workstation and initiate replenishment when stock falls below set levels. Verify part numbers, counts, and material condition before delivery to ensure accuracy and quality. Report shortages, errors, or quality concerns to the Value Stream Leader or Work Center Lead. Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts (if certified) to move materials safely. Maintain cleanliness and clear labeling of kanban locations and staging areas at workstations. Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as directed by a supervisor. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines. Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Key competencies Attention to detail: Accurately identify part numbers, quantities, and kanban signals to ensure materials reach the correct destination. Reliability: Dependable and self-motivated, able to follow routes and schedules with minimal supervision.

Your keen attention to detail will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations while performing job duties.Load and unload trucks, and operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.Handling receiving duties, which includes:Upon unloading vendor shipments or customer returns, obtain and verify the packing slip against received materials, documenting any discrepancies or damages.Print and validate computer receiving documents, and accurately enter received materials into the computer system.Identify special order and damaged materials, ensuring proper storage in designated locations.Document all shipping discrepancies on the freight carrier’s Bill of Lading, initiate freight claims, and forward relevant paperwork to the appropriate team member.Engage in picking, packing, and shipping activities such as:Select materials for customer orders, ensuring accurate counting and comparison with shipping documentation.Assemble and pack materials appropriately for pick-up or shipment to customers.Complete necessary documentation for shipments delivered via third-party carriers or requiring Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) documentation.Notify the Supervisor of any inventory discrepancies or damaged materials that could affect customer service levels.Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety by removing empty cartons, metal banding, pallets, and other debris.Report any safety concerns within the warehouse to the Warehouse Supervisor or Profit Centre Manager.Assist teammates in providing excellent customer service at the counter.Perform additional tasks as requested by the Profit Centre Manager.
