Shields Health Solutions is hiring a Specialty Pharmacy Technician to work from an off-site location in Tacoma, WA. The position centers on supporting patients from specialty clinics by ensuring integrated care and encouraging the use of partner pharmacy services. Medication adherence and comprehensive support are at the core of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver customized medication management for hospital patients, focusing on those with complex needs.
- Remotely assist clinic teams with prior authorizations, financial assistance, onboarding, and refill coordination.
- Educate patients on the benefits of using the hospital pharmacy to enhance their care.
- Oversee all aspects of patient medication needs, including prescription renewals and supply arrangements.
- Grow the specialty pharmacy’s patient base by following Shields' established programs and protocols.
- Address insurance concerns, conduct benefit investigations, and act as a provider agent for prior authorizations.
- Identify and secure financial assistance for eligible patients.
- Document patient information accurately in hospital EMR systems, Therigy, and Shields’ proprietary tools.
- Encourage medication adherence through outbound therapy check-ins and proactive refill management.
- Communicate with patients to help them understand their medications and answer questions.
- Identify medications needing special storage or handling, such as hazardous or refrigerated items, and arrange for necessary supplies like sharps containers and syringes.
- Efficiently triage and respond to incoming inquiries.
- Support operational goals by entering data, adjudicating claims, and managing follow-up actions.
- Contribute to process improvements and maintain high standards for productivity, quality, and service.
- Protect patient and organizational confidentiality at all times.
- Continue professional growth through ongoing education, reading industry publications, and networking.
