Role Overview: Senior Software Engineer – Networking Forward Deployed Engineer Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) at Ditto work directly with key users to solve complex, real-time networking challenges. This role focuses on integrating Ditto's software into operational environments, reducing time-to-value, and ensuring smooth deployments. FDEs act as a bridge between users and the core engineering team, sharing technical feedback and feature requests based on real-world experience. Success in this position requires adaptability, strong problem-solving skills, and comfort working in ambiguous or high-pressure situations. What You Will Do Design and manage tactical network infrastructure: Build, deploy, and oversee the network transport layer connecting Ditto’s software across SOCOM operational environments. Tasks include configuring routers, switches, and subnetting for multi-enclave networks. Optimize tactical radio network integration: Set up and troubleshoot data flows over tactical radio systems (such as AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-163, MPU5), ensuring reliable IP transport even with limited, intermittent, or low-bandwidth RF links. Engineer multi-bridging and cross-network routing: Develop configurations that move data across different network segments, tactical radios, local Wi-Fi, LTE, SATCOM, while tuning routing, QoS, and payload compression for bandwidth-constrained scenarios. Provide real-time problem resolution: Serve as the first technical support contact for users in the field.
