As an EMT Theory and Skills Instructor, you will be instrumental in guiding and training aspiring emergency medical technicians (EMTs) under the supervision of the lead instructor or Program Director. Your primary focus will be on delivering hands-on instruction, nurturing student growth, and ensuring compliance with educational and regulatory standards.Deliver engaging lessons on critical EMT subjects including patient assessment, trauma care, medical emergencies, airway management, and basic life support (BLS) techniques.Facilitate practical, scenario-based training sessions that incorporate skills labs, simulations, and field exercises, allowing students to practice essential procedures such as CPR, patient assessment, treatment, and transport.Demonstrate the correct usage of medical equipment (e.g., defibrillators, spinal boards, oxygen masks) and manage emergency medical situations effectively.Guide students in achieving proficiency in practical skills through supervision and constructive feedback during training exercises.Administer written examinations and practical assessments to evaluate students’ knowledge and application of concepts.Provide regular feedback to students regarding their strengths and areas for improvement to support their learning journey.Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and accomplishments throughout the course.Enforce safety protocols during all training activities to ensure a safe learning environment and adherence to operational procedures.Supervise the proper usage of training equipment, ensuring all tools, including manikins and medical devices, are utilized safely and effectively.Assist students with career development, professionalism, and ethical practices in emergency medical services (EMS).Create a welcoming and supportive classroom atmosphere where students feel encouraged to ask questions and seek assistance.Support students with personal or academic challenges by directing them to appropriate resources.Collaborate closely with the Lead Instructor or Program Director to align training with curriculum and educational standards.Contribute to the preparation of instructional materials including lesson plans, practical exercises, and demonstrations.Ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations, as well as standards set by accrediting bodies such as the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).Stay updated on advancements in medical technology, EMS protocols, and treatment methodologies.
