About the job
Divergent is an innovative technology company that has designed and commercialized a cutting-edge factory system known as the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS). This system harnesses advanced machine learning to optimally engineer, additively manufacture, and flexibly assemble complex vehicle structures and subsystems. Products crafted with DAPS boast enhanced performance, reduced costs, rapid customization tailored to specific missions and customer requirements, expedited market readiness, and scalable production capabilities. As a recognized Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs, Divergent is now broadening its reach to fulfill critical demands in the Aerospace and Defense sectors. Join us in this transformative journey where your contributions will redefine technology and production.
Purpose
In the capacity of Manager of Design Criteria Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in defining, structuring, and overseeing the interaction between Divergent’s customer programs (Applications Team) and our core technology development organization (Platform Technology Team). This position guarantees that system-level requirements from ongoing vehicle and defense initiatives are systematically decomposed into clear, actionable platform requirements and capabilities across software, materials, automation, and process technology, facilitating Divergent’s growth in execution while ensuring alignment between programs and platform evolution.
The Role
- Develop and institutionalize a structured requirements decomposition framework that links application system-level requirements to platform technology requirements.
- Create and maintain traceability matrices connecting customer needs to program-level requirements and DAPS platform capabilities.
- Collaborate with Program Managers, Responsible Engineers, and Platform Leads to ensure platform development priorities align with critical application and customer requirements.
- Draft and maintain a standardized design criteria framework for major application classes (e.g., automotive chassis and suspension, missile airframes, satellite bus structures), outlining performance envelopes, mass targets, and qualification thresholds.
- Facilitate cross-functional “Technical Vetting” reviews to confirm that emerging platform capabilities meet application readiness and timing requirements.
- Identify and communicate capability gaps, risks, and dependencies between application and platform teams, coordinating mitigation strategies.
- Support the development of configuration-controlled, digital requirements management tools (e.g., FlowEngineering, Jama, DOORS) to enable consistent traceability and revision control.
