We are in search of a Data Governance Consultant for our Data & AI team who can impose structure, enforce ownership, and guide management towards a mature utilization of data.
Your Role
You will bring clarity amidst complexity.
As a Data Governance Consultant, you will be the driving force behind the professionalization of data governance within intricate organizations. You will integrate strategy, operations, and technology into a cohesive entity, ensuring that data acts as an accelerator rather than a risk.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to C-level executives, management, business stakeholders, architects, and data teams.
Where ownership is lacking, you will facilitate it.
Where decision-making stalls, you will provide clarity.
Where governance is fragmented, you will create cohesion.
This is not a role where you merely “roll out a framework.”
You will construct an operating model that endures.
Your Practical Responsibilities
Strategy & Operating Model
- Design and implement data governance strategies and operating models (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
- Translate business objectives into governance principles, roles, policies, and workflows.
- Conduct data maturity assessments and maturity scans.
- Convert business use cases into data initiatives and actionable roadmaps.
- Advise management and executives on governance, risks, and priorities.
Governance & Stewardship
- Establish and activate data stewardship (both top-down and bottom-up).
- Set up decision-making processes surrounding definitions, standards, business rules, and data quality.
- Organize steering, ownership, and governance structures that are embraced across the organization.
Data Quality, Metadata & Lineage
- Engage in data modeling (basic level), data lineage, and impact analyses.
- Enhance data quality and data management processes.
- Support data product teams with data contracts and lifecycle management.
Alignment & Change
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions at various organizational levels.
- Engage in active stakeholder management in complex and occasionally political environments.
- Bridge the gap between business and IT , including resolving tensions and escalations.
