This pivotal role is essential for merging conventional marine practices with next-generation autonomy. In your capacity as Boat Captain, you will operate manned support vessels while overseeing autonomous systems during field tests, directly contributing to the advancement and validation of groundbreaking maritime technologies.Responsibilities:Operate and maintain company-owned support vessels during field trials and testing events.Lead the safe deployment, recovery, and towing operations of ASVs across diverse marine environments.Work closely with engineers, autonomy developers, and mission planners to implement test plans effectively.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal maritime regulations, including USCG standards.Engage in safety assessments and assist in operational planning and risk mitigation.Aid in logistics, maintenance, and troubleshooting of vessels and onboard systems.Act as the on-water safety lead during testing operations.Qualifications:Possession of a valid U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License (e.g., OUPV or Master 25/50/100 Ton).At least 3 years of experience operating vessels in coastal or open-ocean environments.In-depth knowledge of maritime safety, navigation, and emergency protocols.Ability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment and adept at multitasking.Strong communication and leadership skills in high-pressure operational conditions.Physically equipped to work on boats amidst varying weather and sea conditions.Preferred Qualifications:Experience supporting military or government maritime operations.Familiarity with autonomous or remotely operated marine vehicles.
