Thank you for considering a career with Oklo! We are seeking a talented Facility Design Engineer to enhance our fuel recycling engineering team.
Position Description:
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for creating and optimizing the balance-of-plant design for a cutting-edge commercial-scale Used Nuclear Fuel (UNF) recycling facility. Your daily tasks will encompass process analysis, requirements generation, and the design and specification of equipment crucial to various facility operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams focused on process equipment design, chemical and electrochemical engineering, instrumentation and control (I&C), software engineering, quality assurance, and licensing. Furthermore, you will liaise with external Architecture and Engineering (A&E) firms to support facility development.
Key Responsibilities:
Designing facility layouts, workflows, and infrastructure plans to enhance efficiency, safety, security, and compliance.
Defining specifications and performance criteria for facility process support equipment, which includes:
Mechanical systems – pumps, heat exchangers, piping, valves, etc.
Electrical systems – transformers, switchgear, high-power DC rectifiers, etc.
I&C – Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), instrumentation sensors, emergency shutdown systems (ESD).
Backup power generation – generators, fuel tanks, uninterruptible power supplies, etc.
HVAC & ventilation.
Water and waste systems.
