About the job
Thank you for considering a career with Oklo! We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Facility Operations Manager to be an integral part of our team.
This position is located on-site in the vibrant Austin, Texas area.
Position Overview
Atomic Alchemy, a proud subsidiary of Oklo, is pioneering the development of scalable radioisotope production capabilities across the United States. Our facilities are dedicated to producing vital isotopes for healthcare, industry, research, and defense sectors. With the recent executive orders from May 2025, the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) is spearheading the American nuclear renaissance. This initiative led to the establishment of the Reactor Pilot Program (RPP), which aims to demonstrate at least three advanced reactors achieving criticality by July 4, 2026. In August 2025, Atomic Alchemy was honored to be selected for an RPP project, focusing on a pilot radioisotope production facility.
The Facility Operations Manager will be accountable for the safe operation and maintenance of the facility. This role involves ensuring that all activities comply with technical, operational, and regulatory standards. You will lead daily operations, oversee maintenance, direct facility personnel, and uphold a high standard of operational discipline throughout all functions. The successful candidate will be pivotal in transitioning the facility from construction completion and commissioning through to initial startup and active operations, ensuring readiness, adherence to procedures, and fostering continuous improvement at every stage. You will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer of Atomic Alchemy.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in nuclear operations management and should hold, or have previously held, a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license from a commercial nuclear plant, research and test reactor facility, or have served as an Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) in the U. S. Navy Nuclear Program. Strong cross-functional experience, the capability to coordinate across engineering, operations, maintenance, and regulatory interfaces, along with a deep commitment to operational excellence are essential. This position requires a strong on-site leadership presence.
