Qualifications

As a FEA Simulation Engineer, you will gain practical experience applying finite element analysis to real-world engineering challenges spanning various industries such as aerospace and defense. You possess a keen ability to grasp and implement advanced engineering concepts across diverse sectors, excelling in direct customer engagement (often on-site) to develop CAE models integrated into AI tools that are both functional and widely adopted. Your expertise lies in structural mechanics and materials science, with a proven ability to translate fundamental knowledge into real-world applications across a broad spectrum of engineering scenarios. Proficiency in at least one of the following tools—NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or ANSYS Mechanical—is essential, along with the capability to automate these tools to establish scalable optimization workflows that yield significant results. Familiarity with open-source FEA tools (CalculiX, FEniCS) or explicit dynamics tools (LS-DYNA, Abaqus/Explicit) will be advantageous. Skills in parametric CAD modeling (NX or CATIA) and programming in Python, or the willingness to learn programming languages swiftly, are also beneficial. With 1-2 years of relevant industry experience (post-Masters or PhD) in a commercial, non-research setting, you are well-prepared to contribute from day one. You demonstrate confidence in independently setting up FEA simulations, interpreting complex outcomes with thoroughness, and making informed decisions grounded in sound engineering judgment. Familiarity with turbomachinery analysis, gas turbine, or aircraft structural sizing aligns well with this role. Experience in multidisciplinary optimization (MDO) is a plus, although not mandatory at this level. Furthermore, a background in composite materials analysis, as well as exposure to damage tolerance and fracture mechanics, would greatly enhance your fit for this position.
