Having contributed to groundbreaking achievements at SpaceX, including the development of the largest rocket and the deployment of a vast satellite constellation, we learned that infrastructure is pivotal.
At Starbase, we recognized that the major obstacle in launching missions to Mars was not the rocket's construction but rather the slow, expensive, and complex process of developing the necessary infrastructure. The lack of buildings, roads, water, power, communication, and waste management made the construction process disproportionately time-consuming and resource-intensive.
Analyzing this from a first-principles perspective revealed a crucial truth: creating the foundations for progress should not be this challenging or costly. This insight led us to apply the same engineering principles that drove our success in space exploration and mass manufacturing to the realm of infrastructure. By introducing simplification, iteration, acceleration, and automation to construction, we are poised to unlock a new era of building.

Job Overview
As the inaugural finance hire at TerraFirma, you will be responsible for shaping and scaling our finance operations. Collaborating directly with the Chief of Staff and co-founders, your role will involve refining our systems, controls, and operational processes to ensure rapid growth while enhancing financial accuracy.
This position encompasses hands-on engagement across accounting operations (AP/AR, month-end close, reporting) and forward-looking finance (budgeting, forecasting, unit economics, fundraising support). You will automate existing workflows, implement essential controls, and establish real-time visibility into cash flow, burn rate, and runway as we expand.
