Requirements:Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire protection system design. Experience with BIM (Navisworks) is a plus. NICET Level 2 certification is an advantage. Familiarity with NFPA 13, 14, 20, 22, and FM Global Standards is essential. Strong technical understanding of various Fire Sprinkler Design systems including Wet, Dry, Preaction, and Deluge types. Experience with AutoCAD and other relevant software is required.

As a Fire Sprinkler Designer at Firetrol, you will play a crucial role in developing fire protection design drawings and calculations necessary for permitting and construction across a diverse array of projects, including storage facilities, healthcare institutions, assembly areas, and mercantile establishments. Proficiency in AutoSprink and familiarity with BIM coordination tools like Navisworks is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will hold NICET Level 1 certification in Water-Based System Layout.

  • Work independently with minimal oversight from the Firetrol Protection Systems Design Manager.
  • Create fire protection system designs based on architectural dimensions and structural backgrounds, while identifying and resolving coordination challenges and effectively communicating outstanding issues.
  • Conduct hydraulic calculations as required.
  • Prepare stock listings for the fabrication shop as necessary.
  • Thoroughly review all design drawings prior to fabrication.
  • Coordinate drawing schedules with the Design Manager to align with operational timelines for permitting and fabrication.
  • Examine all design documents before submission for permits and architect/engineer review.
  • Participate in project meetings and conduct site visits as needed, including performing site surveys.
  • Document and communicate discrepancies, unclear intentions, or missing information impacting design coordination.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with field foremen throughout the design process to note any required adjustments due to coordination issues.
  • Review submittals to ensure compliance with size, quantity, design specifications, and compatibility with equipment from other vendors.
