About the Role
We are seeking passionate, customer-oriented software engineers to develop tailored software solutions utilizing OpenAI’s APIs to address real-world challenges faced by our clients. As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer (FDSWE), you will collaborate with customers and fellow engineers to architect and implement scalable solutions that tackle complex issues. You will create abstractions that resolve customer challenges, enhancing our capacity for high-speed, high-quality delivery across all Forward Deployed projects.
In this role, you will work closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Solutions Architects, and Customer Success Managers on shared accounts, while also providing valuable feedback to our Research and Applied Product and Engineering teams.
This position is based in Paris, following a hybrid work model of three days in the office each week. We offer relocation support and require travel up to 50% of the time.
Your Responsibilities:
Engage deeply with key customers to gain a thorough understanding of their business challenges and technical needs.
Design, architect, and develop comprehensive full-stack solutions using a methodical, experiment-driven approach.
Draft detailed scopes of work and project plans for both prototype proofs of concept and full production implementations.
Act as a technical expert and trusted advisor, collaborating directly with customers' technical teams to ensure project success.
Work alongside Product, Research, and Applied teams to facilitate seamless customer experiences and gather actionable product feedback.
Contribute to our internal knowledge base by documenting best practices and insights from customer engagements to enhance the Forward Deployed Engineering function.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
At least 7 years of professional full-stack engineering experience (excluding internships), with a strong focus on customer-facing roles.
Proficient in modern programming languages and frameworks, with a proven track record in developing scalable applications.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working in a hybrid team environment, balancing remote and in-office collaboration.
A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a passion for leveraging technology to drive positive customer outcomes.
