About the job
About Pax Historia
Pax Historia is an innovative alternate-history sandbox game that allows players to select a country and a pivotal moment in time, enabling them to rewrite history. Imagine a world where Rome never fell, the Soviet Union thrived, or Genghis Khan reigned longer.
Supported by Y Combinator, Pace Capital, and Z Fellows, our game has amassed nearly 20 million rounds played and is experiencing rapid growth. Your contributions will impact a product enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of players.
Our Culture
Many of our players discover Pax Historia through word-of-mouth, YouTube reviews, and other organic channels, and they return because of our commitment to building an exceptional game. We want every team member to share this passion. History enthusiasts are particularly welcome, but we encourage anyone who can articulate their excitement about our game to apply.
As a small company, you will collaborate closely with the cofounders and a select group of employees. We seek self-motivated individuals who are team players and ready to champion their ideas. The leadership style here values autonomy, allowing you to thrive without micromanagement.
Flexibility is crucial in our fast-paced environment. As we scale, be prepared to address various challenges that arise.
Your Role
We are looking for a full-time web developer to join us on-site in San Francisco (Dogpatch). You will report directly to the cofounders. This role is intensive, with an expected commitment of 50-60 hours per week initially, transitioning to potentially fewer hours as you settle in. While we prefer candidates who can commit to in-person work, there may be slight flexibility for hybrid arrangements (e.g., 1 day per week remote). Your schedule will have some flexibility.
As a web developer, you will play a key role in enhancing the customer experience on paxhistoria.co.
Given our small team size, you will also be expected to assist with various ad-hoc projects as they arise. This is a dynamic, evolving role!
