QualificationsProven experience in sales or business development, preferably in a tech or engineering environment. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with technical audiences. Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a passion for driving sales and generating new business. Ability to think strategically and creatively to overcome challenges and seize opportunities. Experience with CRM tools and sales automation platforms is a plus.

Backed by $7M in funding from Accel and SV Angel, TierZero operates from its San Francisco headquarters.

Role overview

This is the first outbound sales development hire at TierZero. The CEO currently leads all sales efforts, but now seeks someone ready to create and own the outbound sales function. The focus is on generating new opportunities and building a pipeline from scratch, rather than working from a set playbook or inherited leads. The Sales Development Representative will work side by side with the CEO to shape TierZero’s sales approach for the future.

What you will do

Build the outbound pipeline

  • Initiate cold calls, send cold emails, and use creative prospecting to connect with engineering teams at Series C and later companies.
  • Research target accounts, map organizational structures, and identify the best entry points, such as Engineering Managers, VPs of Engineering, or Staff Engineers.
  • Design and test multi-step outbound sequences, refining messaging based on feedback.
  • Craft outreach that feels authentic and relevant to engineers, avoiding generic sales language.

Shape the outbound sales strategy

  • Collaborate with the founding team to define the Ideal Customer Profile, key personas, and buying signals through hands-on experimentation.
  • Develop frameworks to qualify which meetings to pursue.
  • Establish dashboards, KPIs, and repeatable processes for a healthy sales pipeline.
  • Document successful approaches to support future team growth.
