Role overview
This freelance AI Trainer position is designed for research physicists with strong Python skills. Contributors create and validate advanced computational physics problems that help refine AI capabilities. All work is remote and project-based, with assignments varying by project.
What you will do
- Design original computational physics problems that reflect real research workflows.
- Create challenges that require Python programming to solve, using libraries like Numpy, SciPy, and Sympy.
- Ensure problems are computationally intensive and not solvable manually in a reasonable timeframe.
- Develop problems involving complex reasoning in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, or quantum mechanics.
- Base challenges on authentic research questions or practical applications in physics.
- Validate solutions using Python and standard physics simulation libraries.
- Document clear problem statements and provide verified solutions.
Requirements
- Degree in Physics (theoretical, experimental, or computational) or a closely related field.
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation. Experience with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, Stata, or similar languages is a plus.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in applied physics, research, or teaching.
- Expertise in numerical simulation techniques.
- Ability to design problems that reflect real research workflows in physics.
- Creative problem-solving across multiple physics domains.
- Familiarity with physics modeling and approximation methods.
- Strong written English at C1 level or above.

Compensation
Contributors can earn up to $35 per hour, depending on contribution level and speed. Rates may differ between projects based on scope, complexity, and required expertise. Other Mindrift projects may offer different compensation levels.
