Mindrift offers project-based, remote roles for professionals skilled in chemistry and Python. These freelance positions focus on supporting AI development for leading technology companies. Participation is not permanent employment, and work is assigned on a project basis.
What you will do
- Design computational chemistry problems that reflect real-world research workflows.
- Create Python-based challenges requiring programming solutions, often using numpy, scipy, and chemistry-specific libraries.
- Ensure problems are complex enough to require computational methods, not manual solutions.
- Develop tasks involving advanced reasoning in physical chemistry, quantum chemistry, and molecular modeling.
- Base assignments on authentic research scenarios or practical chemistry applications.
- Validate solutions using Python and established computational chemistry techniques.
- Document each problem clearly and provide verified answers.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation. Experience with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or relevant chemistry libraries is also acceptable.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in applied research, teaching, or a related area.
- Background in numerical methods within chemistry.
- Knowledge of computational chemistry concepts and techniques.
- Strong written English skills (C1 level or higher).
How projects work
The process includes application, qualification, joining a project, completing assigned tasks, and receiving payment. During active project phases, tasks typically require 10–20 hours per week, though actual workload may vary.
Compensation
Contributors can earn up to $35 per hour, depending on expertise and pace. Compensation may differ by project based on scope, complexity, and required skills. Other projects may offer different pay structures.
