Role overview
This freelance Optical Engineer position focuses on developing and validating computational physics problems for AI training and evaluation. Projects often require strong Python programming skills and familiarity with libraries such as Numpy, SciPy, or Sympy. Assignments may involve:
- Designing computational physics challenges that reflect real research workflows
- Creating problems that require Python-based solutions, often using scientific libraries
- Ensuring tasks are complex enough that they cannot be solved by hand in a short time
- Developing scenarios involving mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics
- Basing challenges on real-world physics or authentic research problems
- Validating solutions using Python and standard physics simulation tools
- Clearly documenting problem statements and providing verified solutions
Requirements
- Degree in Physics (theoretical, experimental, or computational) or a closely related field
- Proficiency in Python for numerical problem-solving; experience with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, or SciPy is a plus
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience (applied, research, or teaching)
- Background in numerical simulation methods
- Ability to design problems based on actual research workflows
- Creative problem-solving across multiple physics domains
- Understanding of physics modeling and approximation techniques
- Strong written English skills at C1 level or above
